| The eight campsites located at the front of the park across the road from Johnson Lake have full hook-ups and seven are pull-throughs. Each of the sites are separated by natural areas of wildflowers, berries and some trees. Most of these sites are capable of holding large RVs plus vehicle or trailer. The sites are roomy and most have views of Johnson Lake across the road.
The nine campsites in the second row have water and electricity. Five of the nine are pull-throughs and more secluded than the front row. Back-in campsites 10 and 11 are surrounded by large birch and cottonwoods. The park has an easily accessible dump station located in the front of the Lodge building (the long orange building).
In order to keep the more secluded atmosphere away from the city noise and the hustle-bustle of a fishing campground, we have eliminated the use of the rear 15 sites for camping. This will help reduce the number of people in the campground and have less stress on the facilities. These sites may be used for storage of trailers, extra vehicles or boats during the summer.
The Lodge has both men’s and women’s bathroom and three individual showers which will be open during the daytime and is handicap accessible. In addition, there is a laundry area with three washers and three dryers for the guest convenience
During the summer of 2009, a camp firepit was added behind the Lodge. The firepit is opened daily from 5 pm to 10 pm daily. Firewood is provided. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed without parent supervision. CAMPFIRES AT THE CAMP SITES ARE NOT PERMITTED due to Forest Service restrictions.
Trout fishing is allowed in Johnson Lake. Salmon fishing is available in the Kasilof and Kenai Rivers. Crooked Creek is not open for fishing until August 1st. Fishing poles are available for rent and fishing hooks, sinkers, and bobbers are for sale in the office. Salmon fishing locations and fishing instructions are available at the office.
